I don't remmber this happening before, but it must have; I bleed the brakes and even if I open both front and rear bleeders the pedal only goes halfway to the floor. I can stand on it with both feet and it won't budge any further. I disconnected the master cylinder or more accurately the booster rod and the pedal travels to the floor un-impeaded. So the question is why would the brake pedal not go to the floor with the rod attached? Is the booster travel limited or is there something in the master cylinder?
The brakes work, but if I hit them in a panic situation or just hard they will not haul the car down even though the pedal feels ROCK SOLID, but that is because that is as far as it will travel even with the bleeders open. I really hate to have to resort to taking the master cylinder off but it sure seems lie I am headed that way unless somebody has gone down this road before.
