Ok I really want a cowl hood. But I dont like the $500+ cost and the fact that the cowl is not even 2 inches tall. How hard would it be to take a hood, wrap it in, say, plastic wrap, to keep the 'glass from sticking, and use it like a mold sorta. Then trim it to the right size and use four hood pins (that attatch to the fender and protrude through the hood itself)?

I don't think it would be very difficult. I have seen a hood scoop on a DSM that was done that way and it looked pretty decent. The only problem is that you would be able to tell it is just a mold unless you were to use some bondo or something and blend it into where it meets the hood.

I was talking about making an entire hood. But, i suppose it would be easier to get a spare one from the boneyard and just put a scoop on it.

i only know of one person who made a hood, it was a ram air hood, like the gtx(gtp with slp options). it was a great looking hood. he took his stock hood, found the scoop he wanted and bolted them onto the hood and smoothed it all out, decided it was too heavy, so he used to the stock one to make a mold and then made a fibre glass version. his ram air goes right to the top of the air box somehow, its like the stormin norman hood for the stang. so, it is an option, but it take a LOT of time and a LOT of patients.
