how much? i bought my 97 1 1/2 yerrs ago for 7k with 40k on it, flawless car.

I paid $4000.00 for my '98 with 36,000 miles on it a year ago and now it has a little over 40,000 on the clock. It does have the chrome wheels on it BTW.

Nice looking car twisted. You'll definitely like it a lot, especially how refined it is for an American made car.

I though the difference was on the back side of the wheels. One chrome the other paint.

The difference I refer to is on the SIDES of the spokes. The 96's are Much smoother on the sides. They are also apparently Chromed much better. They still will peel in back like All Chromies will, just not as bad from what I've seen.
I can usually tell 96 wheels from about 10 feet away. It's THAT Obvious.

Never had a problem with my '97 chrome wheels (I polish them always and they look like mirrors), and about the grill/"Ford oval holder", just remove it and go with an open look = problem solved.

The problems with corrosion and flaking on the chromies seems to be most prevalent in the salt belt. But, with enough (bordering on obsessive) attention to keeping them clean and polished there are still some of people who drive on their chromies year-round that haven't had any problems yet.

Eric is exactly right on the '96 chromies -- they are the nicest.

Biggest thing with helping prevent corrosion is not using acidic wheel cleaners on the wheels. :thumb:

Had the cams welded today @ Ford Performance Specialties of Georgia. (Great Folks) Rotated the coil packs back to front, New plugs.Changed the oil added 16mm drain plug with magnet. Cleaned the intake loaded the Superchips Xcalibrator 93 octane program. This thing is fast...Drove it home about 300 miles...Hey I like it.
I ended up paying 6700.00 after winning an ebay bid. They knocked off 300.00 for some minor items I noted. Very happy with the car. Discovered the tranny had been replaced with a ? Fred Jones unit...remanned I suppose. The support holding the electric fan is an off white color. Is that the stock color. Yeah the front bumper cover must have been replaced for sure. The rear cover and possibly the whole car was repainted earlier in life. There is some light overspray noticable underneath... The right rear tail light is cracked. Anyone know how much these are?
Mr. Sho and his hands are well versed in these cars. I may be taking my 95 MTX up first of next year for some work.
What's with the speedo going crazy around 115-120?
Just ordered four Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 from tire rack. $113.00 apiece with a bonus of a $75.00 gas card..not bad huh? Dunlaps on the car now. Did the 98's come with Dunlaps...Looking at the rims the weights look like factory to me. There are no other marks which might indicate they have been re-balanced. But then again it is hard to imagine that these tire could br factory originals. My son just put these on his WRX and he says he likes em.
Think I'll lower the shocks in the pinch bolts and scrounge up some Gen II sway bars asap.
What's the best tranny cooler to add? Where might I find an A-Piller pod so I can add
a tranny temp gauge.
Silver Stars go in tommorow.
Do all Gen III's come with a cabin air filter?
Full tint Monday. Maybe some Magnaflows or some other brand mufflers to give it some more tone.
Thanks for the comments guys.

99's didn't. But the spot for it is there. You can buy one and add it yourself. I ripped mine out and never replaced it. I had problems with the car fogging up about 30 seconds after starting it. Ever since I ripped it out it hasn't fogged up like that.

Did you get my PM... my computer had a brain lapse when I sent it...
I got my dual gauge A pillar pod at a local performance shop... 96-98 Mustang hardtop IIRC.
Get a 100w wiring harness to go with the silverstars. Last I remember, Summitracing was practically giving them away.
Flowmaster 40 series are popular for the mufflers. You can get them on ebay shipped to your door for less than $120, all day long. If you really want to unleash the sound of the V8, then get an exhaust cutout... AND an electric plate (McCord) that opens and closes with the push of a button
Oh yeah, I thought the sho oil drain bolt was 14mm, not 16mm????

Yeah. The 96's had a second machining step where they removed the casting finish on the sides of the spokes. Also, the 96's were double-plated, as opposed to the single plating on the 97/98's.

IIRC my A-pillar pod is from a 94 mustang hardtop.

Yes, all GIIIs have a cabin filter located underneath the passenger side window cowling.
