Bosch has "premium" oxygen sensors, using platinum, designed to last about twice as long and more reliable than standard, for only about a buck more than the standard. Most clerks don't know they use platinum, need some education on parts.

All O2 sensors use platinum. Re: the double life expectancy claim, I noticed the other day that Nippondenso has been advertising an O2 sensor that's twice as resistant to fouling as "other" O2 sensors. I guess O2 sensor marketing is catching up to spark plugs.

Could be. The OEM's on my 89 are NGK (both a ford logo and NGK written on the O2 sensor). No reason why Ford wouldn't have used other OEM manufacturers for different years or production runs.

I'll be doing a y-pipe next and will probably be saving money since I probably won't need new o2 sensors. I'd like to see a y-pipe install take 60 days. haha
