Just got everything installed today. This totally changes the character of this car. Videos coming soon. First impressions of the Borla exhaust and Airaid CAI -----------------> Loud! The exhaust rattles my car sometimes. Sounds so good taking off though. Neighbors are already disgusted with me. Ha ha.

Can't wait to hear it. I had Borla on my Mustang and it sounded sick.

I've had a few Borlas too -- one of which was on an '03 Infiniti Coupe and it sounded amazing.
I'm hoping it makes this 'V6' sound amazing too.:)

TIA for posting the sound clip, BD.

Sound Bite Borla Exhaust 1

Is there anyway to upload a sound clip here or is YouTube video the only option for getting sharing sound/video files? I just got a short clip of the Borla exhaust tonight. Thanks

This is the best I'm going to be able to do. I bought a GoPro HD for this so I hope it sounds alright. Feel free to skip around and use a good set of speakers and subwoofer otherwise you wont hear anything.

Good vid. I see what you mean by that extra resonance in the 2k to 2.5k rpm range. It was quite noticeable on my sound system.

I still like it tho. Tell us more about the pipe you have to maybe cure that resonance. Is it smaller diameter to restrict some noise or larger?
So do you have to cut OEM piping and weld this new pipe inline?

How did the retune go? Did SCT help you get your OEM tune back?
..and finally which tune did you go with? I'm guessing #2 with some torque management. If so do you plan on trying #3 soon?

Buy the exhaust from Northeast SHO. Having both rode in, driven, and heard it from the outside, I can say it's the best sounding yet. No rasp, a slight drone, and a deep throaty sound throughout the rev range.

The pipe Borla is sending me is supposed to be the same diameter where it attaches, so we will probably weld it in place or stretch the pipe to fit and weld/clamp. It is supposed to have an area in the middle that is wider than the tube by about 6 inches that effects the waves. He wants me to put it just behind the mid muffler on each side. Said we could put up to 6 of them in this system without restricting airflow.

I went with the Unleashed Tuning Stage 3 tune that is supposed to give about +60HP. Shifting is really smooth and it is fast. I have noticed my mpg drop big time since installing the tune however and I'm sure much of that is from my driving habit lately. haha. I'm getting around 14mpg right now on ave. and I was getting about 21 mpg.
I'm looking at the Livernois Stage 2 tune now also.
Either way these Borla Exhausts are beasts! Heading up to show it to the dealership I bought the car and see what they think.

Sean if I were looking for that British Sports car sound I'd go with the Northeast SHO exhaust. I'm looking for that American Muscle Car throaty sound and these Borlas have that. I'll get some high quality outside videos next.

Sounds great. One question though, how do you rev up like that? Mine has a rev limiter in park/neutral at 3k. Was it removed on the 11 or did your tune remove it?

Borla Exhaust Video

Here is another clip from standstill.

I think Torrie's Unleashed Tune removes that limitation. I just swapped cars with my Ford Salesman friend. He has a modded Mustang GT with around 400HP and SVT Exhaust, K&N CAI. Hard to beat that V8 sound. He was impressed with this Taurus SHO and the Borla exhaust. He could hear the reverb too around 2500 rpm and said what do you expect for a V6. Ha ha
I'm ready to kick his butt now. :woo-hoo:

What a Ride!

Just installed Livernois Stage 2 tune last night and first impression is WOW! Much quieter ride with a little better 0-60 performance so far and best part of all I got my fuel economy back. :woo-hoo:

Love this tune so far. First two 0-60 in 5 seconds flat without pre rev. Borla exhaust is tamed down significantly with only minor reverb in the 2500 rpm range now. Cruising speed is quiet to a low growl depending on workload. I really like the low end response of this tune and I really appreciate the fuel economy so far.

After beating on it for 30 minutes and doing a couple of 0-60s I was still getting 16 mpg. Then I took it to town and was ave. about 23 mpg after another 30 min of driving in town and back home. Great job Livernois!
Can't sleep now. haha :hail:

Glad to hear that you also like the Livernois tune.....Seems that everyone who installs it is very happy with it. Indeed I can't wait to install it myself on my now way overdue SHO.

I'm not surprised about the better 0-60 since hp and torque are much enhanced by the tune.

That's interesting about the drone diminishing after installing the Livernois tune. That drone problem is a concern for some of us who are considering a Borla or other exhaust.
Also glad to hear that the gas mileage seems to have improved with the Livernois tune. A more accurate measuring would confirm this tho. I really don't trust the car's computer estimate of mileage short term. I've found calculating the 'old way' somewhat more accurate.

Sounds like you're pretty excited about a great ride and I am so waiting for mine to arrive so I can feel that excitement too.

Enjoy

Resonators Installed!

Ok, I think I'm getting really close to my ideal sounding car now after installing two resonators directly behind the mid muffler of the Borla exhaust system. I took the two small pieces to the muffler shop that Borla gave me and the guy just laughed and said, these aren't going to do anything for you. Duped by Borla! Bastards! haha
Anyways we installed two resonators about 16 inches long directly behind the mid muffler on each side and that did the trick. No more vibration in the cab and sounds more like a high end exotic car now.
He also said that he could make a better sounding system from scratch easily for far less money. If you have someone in your area that is good with modding exhaust systems this may be the way to go.
Either way I'm happy now and have about 1500.00 in the Borla system with 2 resonators and installation. If others here have Borla exhaust systems on your 2010-2011 SHO and aren't hearing heavy vibration in the 1800-2500 rpm range then you are deaf. Can't believe these would sound any different on another car unless the CAI makes a difference?
