I think the phrase "booyah" originated when Cypress Hill released their first Cd back in 1993 or so. It came out when I was in high school, and the phrase gained popularity from there.

68 style.. hate to dispute you, but its not "BOO-YA!" that Al Pacino says. In the movie, Pacino is a former member of the armed forces, and as such says: "OOH-AH", or some slight derivation of it depending on his branch of service. i know this because i have buddies in the navy and army. each service has their own form of that frase.. such as ooh-ah, ooh-ya, u-ha and so on. just givin you the 411. peace.
