has anyone mounted a boost gauge in their SHO?

I am thinking about it, and would love to see pics of locations others have used for both the gauge and sensor.

I have a MSD DashHawk that I got for my G8's.

I can set it up for my Brick so that I have both Boost PSI and Water Temp in degrees, in a digital gauge scenario. Can display up to 7 simultaneous items, but hard to see when you're at WOT!

Temp rises pretty quickly when you get on it hard, though cools off relatively fast, back to the low 180's (w/ 170 deg T-Stat). My boost registered a high of 15.4 PSI with Torrie's boosted tune.

Wanted a boost gauge until I realized I already had one!

You can go to DashHawk.com to see what you can display/log etc.

All you really would have to do is find a good place to tap into the boost line (for both turbos) and find a tidy spot to mount it. The BMW 335i's have a nice setup with a vent pod on the left of the steering wheel.

Another guage tool

Somewhere I read about DashDAQ (dashdaq.com) which shows data in graphic form. Has anyone used one of these?

DashDAQ is awesome... unfortunately they don't have full support for 2010/2011 Ford extended parameters yet... so you only get a few (about 60) of the basics (rpm, throttle, temps etc.) no boost numbers. Supposedly there will be an update with the parameters soon (Q1 2011).

I have looked at several of the electronic solutions, DashDaq, DashHawk, DashCommand with Kiwi. I think I'd prefer just a gauge mounted.

The unfortunate thing about the DashHawk is that MSD quit supporting updates for it. It is also discontinued in their catalog.

Dealers were charging $299. but there is on (new replacement) on Ebay for $200. bid or $250. buy now.

Reason I had to have it for G8's was I got a second ECM with the idea that my original ECM would remain stock. To add the new ECM you have to do a "Crank Re-learn" which DashHawk does. That was the cheapest solution besides a GM dealer.... who would know you were tuning your toy.

Other issue is that it obviously hooks up to your under-dash port, which means you can't use your SCT Tuner to log at the same time.

In my Brick, I positioned in the adjustable section of the steering column, so it is just below the information center in the center of the dash.

Can take pix if anyone wants.

The DashHawk has been superseded by the Edge Products Insight CS. These sell for $299.99.

I have been wanting a simple gauge for boost as well. I can't believe someone hasn't installed one yet. With the side airbags will a pillar mount work?

I have a set of gauges mounted along the front window pillar - Boost, Temp, Oil and I rarely look at them when in a highly enthusiastic situation. A quick glance at best. I seem to watch the tach way more. They are handy however and I do like having them.

Can you post a photo? Also info on where you got the gauge pods and install info?

I can when I get home after the weekend, however these gauges are mounted in a S/C 89' - The actual part I have is from a mustang. I don't think they were ever made exclusively to fit a SHO. There maybe a similar solution for you Ecoboost guys.

Did a quick search. My set-up looks this but in gray. These pic's belong to TWR - Shoforum member. Hope he doesn't mind me posting them.

Yes that does look nice. A similar setup for the 2010 would be nice, I don't know if one is available or about compatibility with the side airbags.

A column mount might work for a single gauge, not sure if that is available either.

Has anyone found a good place to tap into the boost source? The www.veisystems.com boost gage works great in my Speed6 and comes in blue.
