My 93 SHO ATX has been acting up on and off since my dad drove it yesterday. Yesterday I was using his car so he drove mine. He said he started it in the parking lot of K-Mart and it started then stalled, and then he restarted it and drove away. He got to the railroad tracks about 3 miles from K-mart and it stalled again but wouldn't start back up. Then like 3 minutes later it started back up and he drove it home about 1/2 a mile. When I drove it to work today it ran great until it got warmed up and started to bog down and not want to go and then the CEL came on, it stayed acting like this until I got to work. Then when I got off work it was alot cooler outside and it ran great the whole time I drove it (about half an hour). I fiilled up with midgrade gas after work, before I was using regular unleaded for the last 2 fill-ups. I usually run premium or midgrade. I dont know if this was gas related or not but does anyone else have any other ideas.

Sounds like it could be your camshaft position sensor. I had similar problems until I replaced mine. Usually when they go bad they will act up whenever they get hot.

Do you mean crankshaft position sensor or is there another sensor called the camshaft position sensor?

stalling

the water pump has been known to leak and drip on the crankshaft position sensor causing it to short out and leaving you sit for a short time.
change your water pump and crank sensor.
on mine i had a timing belt installed while it was apart.
should do the trick.
good luck

I second that. Mine had some issues and is still having some with the CID sensor.

black93sho, how many seconds of cranking does it takes before the car fires up? Both cold and hot?

Takes maybe 3 to 4 seconds of crankin to start, and I think its about the same when hot.

Longer crank times could be an good indication of a CID failure.

Get the codes for better analysis.

Ya, theres another sensor called the CID (camshaft position sensor). Pull your codes and you should have a better idea. Other symptoms often include bucking/stalling and an intermittent dead tach.

Ive never had a dead tach, but I'll try and run the codes tomorrow or the day after.

The CID won't necessarily cause a dead tach. Does the CEL come on during the bogging and them go out immediately after it stops?
