So it had 2 bad cylinders (as I thought coolant leak). Kirk at NE SHO did a motor swap for me and dynomax stuff for a really good price. I haven't pick up the car yet, but Kirk tells me the new motor has 102k which is 50k less than the old one.

Glad to hear you came out ok! :thumb: My question is, what caused the 2 bad cylinders? Wouldn't a sign of them being bad come up during the cylinder balance test? Did you perform that test, when you pulled the codes? I have some what the same problem, and i've been putting it off. Car hasn't stalled, but does hesitate after driving on the highway for 20 to 30mins with a CEL.

I didn't do the test, Kirk at http://www.nesho.com/ did the work. I am assuming the coolant leak caused the problem. I said to my wife 3 months ago "few hundred now or a thousand in a couple of months" she chose the latter. He also said the the CPS had been done wrong by someone also.

Good choice on bringing it to Kirk. Bringing it to a guy who's been working on SHO's for a long time is always a smart idea. :)

It seems to be running okay once it gets going, although I need a second opinion on that, but when it idles it's a different story. When I start it's at 1k and after a few sconds it'll jump up to 1500k stay, and drop down, go up one more time and drop down, and when it does the second time it makes a sound almost like grinding a gear with a mtx. Also the check engine light blinks 3 times and goes off, but will turn on again after driving for a few minutes. The dynomax sounds great! Perfect for what I need, not loud on idle or regular driving, but when you get up into the revs and the secondarys it screams. I blew by my wife last night on the pike at 110 or so and climbing hard and she said it scared her because she wasn't expecting me to do it. My radio is driving me nuts too, I got the harness with the rca's (fdk2) so I coulds use the facotry amp/sub with my head unit and I can't get it to work, when I bypas the amps it works, but when I hook in, nothing. I got it out the door for less than 2k with a 102k on the motor and a recent 60k, and the dynomax, kirk did a good job (I'm hoping this idle issue is something else).

Its your IAB valve. It is the cylinder bhind the throttle body. You need to clean it and check itwith a 9v batter to see if it is working.

If you have a 5mm allen wrench, carb cleaner and a 9V batter with wires you can do it. It is quite easy. It is the cylinder looking thing.
