Does this impact the cars performance or have any negative consequences? Also, can you tell me why one would buy a blow off valve if that is the simple solution? If you want the sound, just remove the hose from the charge pipe under each BOV and cap off where it go’s on the intake pipe. Everyone just uses rubber chair leg caps and the stock clamps from the hose. I want to say the caps are 1” or 1 1/8” OD, can’t remember. They’re like two bucks at hardware stores.
Read thisAny insight? I love the sound, but need a bit of education or guidance from anyone that has installed one and its sound or lack there of.
all sound, may see decreased fuel economy if you like hearing the sound more haha.
There may actually be some minor effect to performance. That recirculated air is used to keep the turbos spooled up when you shift this will also effect your gas mileage as having to spool the turbos up more and more often takes more power out of the engine, people like to remove that line in order to have a free BOV but if you are going to invest in a BOV i personally would recommend you look into something like a tial QR it allows some air to escape so you get a light fluttering sound, and most of the air is recirculated so you get a little of both, a tial Q on the other hand releases all the air into the atmosphere so you'll hear it from a half mile away.
Yeah i just got that from 105k, I wasn't thinking about how small the turbos are and I have had manuals for years this is my first auto so I need to retrain the way my brain thinks about the operationIf these cars were standard trans and not automatic, I'd say you were correct. But since the throttle has no reason to close while doing a pull, it has no effect on performance. So having them VTA does nothing except make some noise, a terribly addicting noise.
