So I am changing my oil and took the big plastic thingy off on the underside of the car. Would it be safe to drive around during the summer months without that thing on? It does provide protection from stuff flying up off the road, but I bet the exhaust and turbos would love the extra cool breeze. I was in a traffic jam with the A/C on because it was hot as **** out, and the car warned me that it was getting too hot. Off went the A/C which fixed it. Any thoughts?

Mine has been gone since I bought it (used). No ill effects that I've noticed. You can also get the Ford Flex one I think. It actually has vents in it. Preety sure some on the Forum have done it.

Mine is off because it got tore up from low life. But its actually best to keep it on. There is a noticeable mpg difference with it installed on the highway. And the other reason is the air under the car is negative air so its not getting a breeze, the air is sucking down out of the bay. Oh not the heat, it stays up. It would negatively affect an open element air filter and other not noticeable effects.
Someone on here tested highway mpg with and without and lost 3mpg without it. Ive been without it for 3 years and recently ordered one from Ford to try it myself as im doing a 12 hour trip down south soon with hopes it can help on the highway.

And yes i ordered the flex one. It has air scoops to direct air flow into the rear turbo.

For your overheat issue. Try this. I had the same issue in the humid heat and this took the problem away for 2 years now.

I haven't had mine on since the first oil change I did. I don't like that it can collect fluids so if you have a leak you might not see it until it's too late. I don't know if it would catch the coolant coming out of the weep hole for the water pump but if it did I may have smoked my engine instead of seeing the few drops on my garage floor and caught it in time.

"Someone on here tested highway mpg with and without and lost 3mpg without it.":rolleyes::rolleyes:

I wonder if it's the same guy that claims he can tell the difference in different brands of 75-140 gear oil being used in his PTU?

P.S. good lord what is with these forum filters??? Put down gear lluubbee and it blocks out "lluubbee" so have to use "oil" WTH??? At least it's fun using Caitlyn Jenner to describe that 6-speed gear shifting apparatus....

Do you homework son. Its proven on every platform and worked into the drag coefficient design. Aint kiddin man these new fangled cars gets more better mpg with it at highway speed. Now my 3ton 76 cadillac, will an under pan help? No its still a rektangle pushing rektangle air at 70mph with the aerodynamics of a 2 story trailer house

I hit a log on the highway and destroyed my chin spoiler and tore the LR mount out of the shield. I'm sure that I would have damaged engine parts without it. I drove the car for a month with the shield off while I repaired the chin spoiler and the damaged part of the shield. I prefer having it on. I did open up the two delta vents, can't say that I've noticed any difference.
