Best place to get Porterfield R4

I don't know if you can get them anywhere other than ordering direct from Porterfield. Call their 800 number and tell them what you want. I've always found them extremetly easy to deal with (I'd like to meet the girl who's taken my orders over the years.)
I've actually not used any other pads at the track than Porterfields (and a brief stint with PF street pads), so I don't have a basis for comparison. I can say, though, that I've not had any complaints about the Porterfields. They're a bit pricey, they can be ******* rotors, but they're really great on track.

I've used the R4 on track with very good results in both SHO and Fox Mustang. It's maybe one tick down from the Hawk Blue. I haven't tried the R4E pads yet.
You will not use the R4 on the street, or for autocross or any other application where the brakes do not get hot and stay hot - even if you could put up with the noise, rotor life will be measured in days.
The R4S is a good street pad, and they'll also make drum-brake linings from the R4S material. I'm using them in my old big-block 3/4-ton Suburban.
