I know I've read this on a post before, but I forgot. Which ATF is best for the MTX Sho (I have Gen 1)? Brand and cost, please. Or rate the top two or three for me -- all opinions welcome. I am changing it again, and I want to try to improve on whatever I have now.

Thanks!

I second using Mobil 1 synthetic. When I rebuilt my tranny I used standard ATF for the break in period, switching to Mobil 1 was a night and day difference.

I just switched to GM Syncromesh. It was $20.00+ per quart, but it cleared up some hard shift issues that I was having. I ran Mobil 1 Synthetic in my old MTX and had good luck with it.

FYI.......I believe Pennzoil makes the GM Synchromesh; GM has it packaged in a different bottle and charges 5 times as much as what Autozone sells it for under the Pennzoil Synchromesh brand name.....

Mercon V in my MTX, and better than synchromesh....I'll never run that thick crap ever again.

Mercon V, you'll be pleased!

Had good luck with Mobil 1 synthetic but am having even better luck with GM syncromesh. And from reading previous posts on this subject (there are quite a few of them, so use the search function), the penzoil stuff is not the same as the GM stuff. This is just what i have read though.

Im not sure if that is exactly the case, but I am running Penzoil "syncromesh" and it wasnt much more money than standard dyno oil :thumb:

Royal Purple Synchromax

Although I could only get 2 quarts out, so its only 2/3 synthetic. I'm planning on putting in a drain plug and then filling it with Synchromax. I got it for $7 a quart. Usually $12. Not sure how good it would compare to these others though. :corn:
