Would I definitely know if my belt is slipping?? the reason I ask is because my battery light comes on at high rpms (above 5500) just flickers for a few seconds and then goes off once the car shifts and rpms drop. I tested the alternator and battery which are both good, the only other thing I can think of is the belt slipping at high speeds, but wouldn't I feel it or hear it?? I don't feel anything abnormal or hear any squealing....suggestions please!!

When mine slipped it was when wet and you could smell the burning rubber.

The belt ribs look decent, not great. I don't smell any rubber and it does it all the time, not just when wet. I have also heard that a bad motor mount could cause the battery light to come on, is this true and if so, why??

Never heard the bad motor mount scenario. How many miles on the alternator? The aftermarket ones are notorious for the high rpm light because the don't have the correct pulley or they are incorrectly rebuilt because the commutator is worn down which doesn't allow the brushes to work well at high rpms.

Not sure about the m mount either. How is the tension on the belt? I forget how much belt deflection is normal. Maybe not enough tension or slipping, or as Paul stated, maybe the alternator itself. The only time I had problems on that side was when the crank pulley seperated. You would notice that though because the belt would get really chewed up.
