Last Summer I replaced the serpentine belt, now it's starting to fray again (after about 10000 miles).
Is there a way to check to see if/which pulleys are warped?

Thanks...

Take the belt off and spin the accesories by hand. You should be able to see any wobble if it's there.

That is not very far on a belt. I changed mine at 38K because it had been sitting unused for some timeand was cracking, and now have abou 98K, and it seems fine still.

Thanks Guys,

Well, I changed the belt and found the alternator pulley has some chips in the outter time that rubs against the belt.

How hard would it be to replace the alternator pulley? It seems to be in a pretty tight spot.

Take the front strut tower brace off, drop the right strut from the top, take the right side sway bar end link off at the bottom, disconnect the brake line from the body, remove the right side cowling, disconnect the fuel lines and drop the right side of the subframe. Nothing to it.

or just loosen the drivers side bolts and remove the pass side, and with a jack slowly lower the subframe down untill you can get your gun on it. maybe a 10 min job.

Well, I've called around to a few places. Somewhere, someone decided that FORD doesn't sell the alternator pulley seperate from the alt. I called a pile of part stores today with no luck on the pulley. Cheapest I've found for a replacement is $191 for the whole alternator. I thought about just getting the SHO Shop underdrive pulleys, but that's nearly as much. Besides I've heard mention of problems with some underdrive pulleys.

Any thoughts?
