Please be easy on me if this is covered somewhere and I just didn't find it. I have searched to know avail. I have come upon a 89 Gen 1 that was running when parked, 5 years ago. Other than the basics of starting a car that has been sitting (change oil/gas/plugs/wires) is there anything that is maybe car specific that I should do when starting this baby up?

Un plug the dis and crank the engine over a couple of times before starting it up for the first time. I would also change the fuel filter and check the tranny fluid.

I agree. My motor had been sitting years and then I let it sit years also. I would add some fuel injector clear to the gas. Maurice

Even though the tires might have lots of tread left, they do time out. Be careful of separated tread, dry rot, and cracking. Most tire manufactures want you to put fresh rubber on if its more than 5 years old.
I highly recommend draining the fuel system, replace the fuel filter and start with fresh fuel. Add a bottle of Sea Foam to a half tank of fresh fuel.
Pull the spark plugs, and put 2 tbl spoons of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder the night before you are going to start it.
In the morning,
Disconnect the DIS and turn over the motor for 10-20 seconds. reconnect the DIS Then you should be good to fire.
