I searched and just could not find the answer I was looking for. Mainly b/c no one asked the right question. I was wondering what is the lightest, strongest battery I could run in my SHO? I'm looking for something that is dependable, will crank over in the winter, but will ALSO cut some weight off. Optima's just didn't seem like a good choice from what I've read, very mixed reviews. The car is not my daily driver, but is driven about 1/2 of the week or so, and is taken on occasional long journeys.(300-400 miles) What do you guys think???

I have an optima yellow top in my car. It never gets driven so I always have to give it a jump when I come home to drive it. On the other hand I have been here in the middle east for about 3 1/2 years now and drive a 03 civic. I put a red top in it that I got from one of our generators here that was dead. I charged the **** out of it and have had no problems whatsoever with it. With the heat over here always hot these batteries get worked and optima is what we use and see no change comming. I say go with the optima but as far as the weight goes I think they will be lighter than any lead acid you can find with the CCA rating. Good luck

Optima's suck, PERIOD.

Odyssey PC925 is the battery you are looking for. 15lbs, and plenty of CCA's for the SHO.
Try eBay. :thumb:

15 lbs. Can't beat that! Plus it will probably help to keep my lights from diming at night when I crank up the stereo. Pricey...but just what I was looking for Thanx!!

Made a mistake on the weight... The PC680 is 15lbs, the PC925 is 26lbs.

Sorry about that.

Not a gel cell. Those are old school battery design. It uses a nano-tubular fiberglass matting between the plates which absorbs and holds the electrolyte making them non spillable.
