The other day after I started my car, a 90 MTX, the battery light came on. I checked the voltage coming from the alternator, 13.7 or there about. The alternator IS charging. But the battery light stays lit. While driving and at other times, the light will flicker, or stay lit, or go off with no pattern. Does anyone have any suggestions or similiar experiences? Let me know.

Check the plug on top of the alternater. Mine did it before...I cleaned the connection and its been fine since.

I had the light one about a week after I toasted my alternator. It could mean something electrical is about to give. Sorry to be generic but you covered what I fried.

If you just started your car and you are only getting 13.7 its time for a new alt./volt reg. It should be putting out 14-15 volts. Your alt is weak. I've had this 3 times in 3 years. Also check your Batt before you install a new one cause it could just **** it as well. You can also take an amp clamp/multimeter and you shouldn't be pulling very much from your batt. (key off less than 1 amp). Engine running 10-12 amps. When the A/C comes on depending on where you set your fan speed around 50 amps with head lights 60 amps. If your doing alot of idle driving ie. stop and go the alt has a hard time keeping up if you have any undedrive pullys it makes it imposible.
