i finally have my front seats in, and now looking to change out my back seat.
if ANYONE has ANY knowledge of what other models will interchange w/95 taurus, PLEASE respond! i believe 1988-94 lincoln continental will swap right in, but finding one of them is near impossible. will the T-birds work ?? if so, what years ?? i also don't care if it comes from a taurus/sable, but again, leather in these cars are hard to come by. i am looking for a black leather back seat to put in a 1995 taurus. ANY insight is appreciated!!

I would keep looking for a Taurus / Sable rear seat. Usually the rears do not have a lot of wear, so sticking to the old model does not automatically mean it is second rate. I believe 92 and 93 models had black as an interior option. The first gen seats fit as well, and have that distinctive **** over each seat placement. Black was much more popular in the Gen 1 series.
I do not know enought about dyeing to have an opinion, but I would look into it in your situation.

afaik, nothing but the same vintage Taurus / Sable rear seat will fit. the T-Bird will certainly not fit. more Sables had leather and iirc they had black interior as an option later than the Taurus, so you might find a black leather Sable interior more easily than a Taurus.

The only thing that is a direct swap is another Taurus. The Sables year for year had different style seat backs. The odd thing is that the 1st gen Sable back seat (minus the head rests) will fit the 2nd gen Taurus much better than the 2nd gen Sable and vice versa.

Nope.

In regards to seats, are the rear gen 1 SHO, and rear gen 2 sables the same? Or at least similar enough, I would think.

I've seen gen4 seats (front and rear) in a gen2. They don't have black but they do have a dark gray called "Midnight Black" that's close enough. Also gain fold down seats.

Gen4 Midnight Black interior.
