Hey anyone!

So my 1992 is now back firing through the intake! We just put a new fuel pump on the car just adding a universal one inline! We are not sure why it is back firing through the intake! Anyone have any suggestions please let me know! I have been reading online and have been told it could be maybe a plugged fuel filter! I will replace that and see what happens! In the mean time anyone who might be able to help please let me know what ya think! Thanks to all who respond!

TNEL23:thankyou:

Thats weird it would go through the intake, that usually indicates a timing issue, if anything it should backfire through the exhaust. Did you change a timing belt or mess with plug wires at all? Just an fyi the firing order in the Chilton's is wrong, so if you used that, that may be your problem.

I agree, when mine was backfiring though the intake, it was cause my timing was belt was off if I remember correctlly.

one of the major causes of backfiring is really bad timing, and one of the major causes of really bad timing is crank cancer. So yes, there is a good chance that it is crank cancer. Or, as I like to call it, Crankinoma.

A bad DIS will make backfiring out of the intake, it will almost seem like its out of timing. I.E. Check your DIS

Fuel issues generally won't cause a backfire. Normally the biggest causes of backfires are spark related. Even if it's dumping fuel in 100% of the cycle, that spark plug only goes off at the right time... unless it isn't.

I've seen stranger things happen. I decided not to go to work one day, and as a reward my transmission exploded. Coincidence? Probably not.

Am I the only one who caught this sentence!?!?!? :oogle:  :oogle:  :oogle:

Get rid of the inline pump! :shakehead

Immediately.

Unless you like your car to be on fire, be sure to repair the fuel line where you installed the inline :shakehead pump with the appropriate high-pressure fuel line repair kit.

Where the **** did you install this pump??? :oogle:  :oogle:  :oogle:

Pictures. PLEASE!
