Anybody been to the j/y's recently? I'm planning to spend the day hunting parts on Monday and was wondering whether there've been any recent SHO sightings in the yards.

Anybody need anything (small) while I'm looking?

Cool sig mike. I'm sure there was something I needed.... Oh, a decent 3.2 short block would be great if you happen to come across one. Thanks.

Let me know if you find any sho's as I am in need of some parts. Not exactly sure what all but, I figure it may be the best spot to get alot of the missing hardware and other things the previous owner neglected to replace! And he's a mechanic? :bonk: So if you could let me know if you find any sho's I may pick thru. Thanks, Seth

There are 2 SHOs at Pick and Pull in chandler. One is gen 2 and the other is a gen 1. I'm thinking about going this weekend to see if I can pull the tranny and subframe off of either.

All Ford Parts at 43rd and indian school had a 93 auto in good shape for having 211k miles. The guy said it had a bad motor. It was still very complete.

Ecology only had an 89 when I was there recently, when I was there in December they had 4-6 of them. My North phx junkjard had 3 in December and now has none. Where have all the SHOs gone? I am having a hard time finding a 90 parts car, All Ford Parts searched the computer and said there isn't a 90 in a j/y in all of Arizona. Can this be true?

Do you need a 90 or do you just need a gen 1? Because pick and pull still has one that I saw and it seemed actually really clean and in good shape, makes me wonder how it ended up in the junkyard.

Well, thanks for the heads up on the Pick n Pull, that worked out great (except I went today instead of tomorrow; Wednesdays are their half-off day, whish I'd known that...)

Anyway, I got Mike *two* e-brake pedal covers...but no tire iron. Out of a couple dozen Taurii there (that had openable trunks) there were no tire irons. I think that's something they pull and take inside or something like that, since all the cars there seemed to be devoid of tire irons.

I snagged the intake and intake cams out of the GenII, but it still has lots of decent parts on it, like the rod shifter, tranny, etc., etc. The GenI is right behind it and I agree that it's engine looks cleaner. It was, unfortunately for me, a CA car with the EGR and I was specifically looking for an EGR-less intake. So the GenI drivetrain is still completely intact. It also has some nice swaybars on it and it looked like it's an AZ car, i.e., easy to get stuff off. I was tempted to take the bars but was already out of water and more or less tapped out on what I was willing to carry out of there. Might go back on a near Wednesday and see about "other things".

If I'd remembered to take a shim pic tool I'd have at least snagged the intake shims out of the GenII. They're still there and ripe for the picking.

There's also a white GenII Taurus near the back of the lot with some very nice aftermarket wheels on it. All four wheels are there and look to be in very good shape. They're 16" and I couldn't tell how wide, but I suspect 6 or 7 inches. Couldn't tell the brand of the wheels, either, but they were tempting me.

Oh, and there's a Festiva there as well if somebody wants to make a SHOgun. It's a bit beat up (just a wee bit), but a little duct tape and bondo and a buffer would bring it right back to new. :laugh_ti:

I was looking for Focus parts, too, and there was exactly ONE Focus in the whole yard, and the drivetrain was gone as well as everything else I was looking for. Crap.

Eric, just out of curiosity how much did they intake cost?
I was thinking about pulling it myself about 2 weeks ago but it got way too hot and I'm still very inexperienced.

Looks like it was $45 for the intake, but they also charged me $40 for a "Ford Carburetor" which I'm pretty sure was just the throttle body. Eep! Wish I'd seen that at the time, but the guys I was working with said "throttle body", which I knew was going to cost me more, but I didn't realize $40 more!

Ah, well.

I got out the door for $147, which included tax, the intake/throttle body, the intake cams, both cam chain tensioners a NON-LEAKING p/s cooler (yaaay!), two e-brake pedal covers, an exhaust hanger in excellent shape, and a little pile of miscellaneous hardware that I think they just ignored.

So I wasn't too worried that they'd overcharged me for anything, but next time I'll look more closely.

any idea how much they get for a set of wheels? I will need some winter rims for the 9d1...that is if I end up driving it in the snow up here. Seems a shame to do that.

I need the 90 because the harnesses were different from year to year

Eric, thanks for the prices.

Is there a way to tell the difference in gen I years without looking at the VIN?

I think the VIN is the easiest and most reliable way.

BTW, I forgot to mention, the DIS was missing on both cars when I got there. I suspect they pull those for some reason, too.

I wonder how much the junkyard would give me for my sho...this is freakin rediculous. Nobody in the world wants either one of my cars. This is rediculous. (Insert incredibly stressed out ****** off face here)

:hdance: :hdance: That red Gen I at the Chandler P-N-P is just what I need :hdance: :hdance:
I'll be going down there tomorrow (wed.= 50% off) and getting everything I need. It will probably take me all day, but at least it is supposed to be a little cooler than it has been. If anyone wants to stop by and help for a bit it would be greatly appreciated. Anybody need anything while I am there?

I'm planning to head down there in the morning for a few things as well, mostly stuff off the GenII.
