So I just finished my clutch job, and still have it on jacks with the hubs exposed. When I start the car and put it in neutral, the hubs rotate until I press in the clutch?! (Also have to push the clutch all the way to the floor because the stupid clutch quadrant not holding tension on the cable).
What is to blame and how the **** do I fix it :fit:

In neutral with no "load" on the hubs, the fluid in the trans might be enough to make a viscus couple between the input and output shafts of trans. The same thing can be seen with motorcycles if they're ran in neutral while on a swingarm stand or center stand. I can't help you with the clutch quadrant though.

to adjust the clutch cable, pull up (towards the driver's seat) on the clutch pedal with the engine off.

you should hear a few clicks as the adjuster quadrant takes up the free play.

if that does not happen, investigate to see if the quadrant is stuck or if the spring is broken/missing/out of place.

Well like Kevin said, my mechanic buddy said that's normal. As for the quadrant, it has no pull the drivers way, all clicked out toward the engine. But now that I've driven it a few miles in the snow, it's letting out high (vs the very bottom, on the floor, like before), used to have to manually push it back. Think it's good now , but I already ordered a new quadrant in my rage. Lol. Thanks all!
