Seven years of owning a Gen II SHO, and I've never separated the hub from the axle! (It's been done to my car, just not by me. And I wasn't there.)

Now I have to do this, as I'm installing SHO Source Stage III 12" brakes, and since the car is a '92 I have to install 94-95 style steering knuckles (which I already have now) to hang the Cobra calipers and brackets on.

Does anyone know what is the size in mm of the axle crush nut? My tool set is deficient in deep metric sockets above 21mm, and so I'll have to buy a deep socket in the appropriate size. It looks to be 30 or 32mm.

At least then I'll have one.

Many thanks!

1 3/16" works as well, if you happen to have inch size big sockets rather than metric size big sockets...

Thanks! I do have some large inch (SAE?) size sockets, even a 1 3/16", but they/it are not deep enough to clear the axle shaft. Off to the auto parts store!

If you've bought parts store axles at some point, you might get one with 1 1/4" as well.....I just ran into that over the weekend.
