Was wondering and daydreaming. Is it possible to make my sho a AWD..I just think that would a bad*ss ride. Has anybody ever done this I've seen rearwheel drive..what really sparked this is my friend at work has a audi 1.8t quatro awd..and when we leave he can just just drift around everything and can keep it going straight and granted there was snow on the ground …my sho aint shit compared to that..just thought it would be cool to see a AWD sho..mine is a 89 sho..

I would find a 90-97 AWD aerostar and get both the front and rear diff and the dana 28 transfer case.

Then find a way to mate the transfer case to an auto that would bolt up to the SHO / vulcan bell housing.

Not easy or cheap but it may be possible ??

It was just a what if kinda thing I have no where near the money to do a job like that. Just wondering if anybody has tired it or what ever I've seen the rearwheel drive ones.

find wrecked SHO. cut out drivetrain. transplant into rear of your SHO. enjoy your reliable 440hp SHO.

You don't know how many times I've run through the processes involved in doing a monster like this. I'd use an ATX SHO with another complete ATX drive train in the rear so that synchronization would be a lot easier. I thought about it most when walking past Bondurant SHO 99.

Still thinking about it....damn you!

I think someone did it before the forum crashed, but it's gone now. However, the SHOGuns are set up exactly the same way. You need to work out a fancy linkage or use shift cables, but it's definitely doable. You'll lose the backseats though and have a **** of a time doing any engine work.

With the amount of fab required for that, I'd say do a normal RWD swap instead, or if you'd really like AWD, look at Jaguar X-Type trannies. Duratec bolt pattern and AWD. V8 AWD SHO wouldn't be as difficult as V6, it would bolt up.

So if I find a V8 sho it will bolt up to a jag awd tranny "has to be duratec" and it will bolt right on and work..would I be able to use front axle shafts..I don't know I'm trying to figure something out it a lot of thinking...maybe I should just get a 2010..but I like mine.

The tranny will bolt to the engine, that's as far as it goes I suspect. I'm not sure the engine will fit in the engine bay anymore, I don't know what axles you can use, and AWD Jag trannies aren't exactly falling from trees. But the V8 SHO uses the Duratec bolt pattern and so does the X-Type.

You can always look into an AWD Escape tranny as well, but the Jag tranny is built for more power, and comes in manual.
