My friends 93 ATX got hit in the front end, and now it will not shift out of park after you start it. If you turn the key to just acc., then shift to N, then start it, all is well, tranny shifts great, etc etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

Brake Light Switch is probably broken. Check to see if the car has brake lights!

Or there is a short in the circuit and a fuse is blown. I had this problem on a 93 and the same circuit was tied to the cruise control. I had to repair the cruise before the fuse wouldn't blow.
