Auto-dmming mirror/Compass combo

The 98 has this and it is an awesome feature, my 97 and every other V8 SHO I've seen does not have this. Just wondering if anyone else has one installed and if this was a factory or dealer installed option?

Definately a dealer option. I wish my SHO had that. I am too lazy to reach up and flip down the mirror myself.

I think I'm gonna install one myself, I love the compass (since I never know what direction I'm heading) and I hate flipping the mirror cause then it's to dark!

I'm glad I don't have one. My 88' Mark VII had one and I could never get it to stop falling off the glass because it was so damn heavy! I'm not sure if the technology was improved 10 years later or not, but in 88' it was a PIA!

My mom's Explorer has it. Works just fine. It also controls the auto on headlights.

Do a search on hardwiring an electric device on v8sho. I imagine an auto-dimming mirror would be exactly the same.
