About as close to my issue as I can find...

Last night I had a very loud cut/crisp sound come through the speakers but music came back.

Today no audio, CD or radio or Bluetooth.. I performed master reset and the car talks to me still but I can't get any audio out...

Factory sync2

Thoughts?

hehehehehehe

I mean, I've only had it for like 18 months or something, I'm sure I'll get it installed any day now :D

but seriously
all spring/summer my truck is full of baseball gear (I coach kids), and last fall I ended up having hip surgery that meant I couldnt think about doing the work for the next 6 months. I think baseball ends this weekend it looks like, so maybe in August I can swap it and try and reprogram it

of course the ebay apim is a pos and works-ish

Disconnected battery for 15 minutes reconnecting it and all works fine but I guess I'm gearing up for an apim

So going to weigh in here - carefully - I had a whole thread on battery drain issues - that ultimately was the APIM. I bought mine like many - not off ebay - but off Amazon - same sources. @RoketRdr is correct and so is @Ta2dResqr - new parts are best when sourcing the upgrade - had I did it again I would of gone that route. My replacement APIM from that vendor on Amazon was from a F150.

I know the issue from the OP was prior - so my guess - and a guess it is - amplifier/ACM/DSP or some other POS Sony component used by our sound system is the root source. However - the APIM can also be a part of the issue.

So I'm sending my ACM to be rebuilt... The issue matches what I have with not being able to switch to FM radio, period. Just cd/bt/Sirius.

Should have it yanked soon and back in a week.

car talks to me even in android auto, but no music/hands free/etc

Hi!! MY wife's 2018 Taurus with the Sony System seems to be having the same issues. Crackled a bit then no sound. I checked the fuses #5 & #19, both good. Looked at the wiring harness in the back where the amp is all looks good. Even bought a used amp of the same type, plugged it in and no luck. I also noticed even after doing a master reset (will no do the power & seek reset) I cannot get it to go to any audio inputs except, Bluetooth and CD..Apple CarPlay will come up on the screen but again no sound. Makes all the beeping noises for back up sensors etc. Also noticed the back up cam will periodically cut out. Does that sound like the ACM needing to be rebuilt?? Also how do you get it out of the dash to send it in??

Stupid question from a newb: my SHO's sound system will not output to the front left channel. Could that be caused by a faulty ACM?

My car can accept an upgrade to the Sync 3 software. Would upgrading have a positive affect on this issue?

TIA.

Just send the ACM in. It is kind of involved to remove all the bezels, shifter plate, etc.

Best part the bolts are the same - so putting it back is not that bad - just makes a mess and takes time. Also a good to know, when pulling the two corner trim plates with the push button start and trunk, gently pull perpendicular to the dash otherwise twisting or bending will break the molded clip. I have broke 2. Those trim plates you want to pull up toward the roof, accept when it comes to the button section, pull gently in toward back seats.
