ATX trans Questions

I have a 94 SHO ATX had the trans rebuilt 3 times already and it keeps going through planetary gears!
So the rebuilder says to get another tranny core so i found one from a 93 will this work? Thanks much

I was just asking because people say the 93 trans is weaker but they replace the computer with the 94-95 was wondering if it was a trans computer or just cars ECU?

My parts catalog does not specify. However, there are several sets of planets... Sorry I can not be of more help.

From what I have gathered, yes it will work. However, you will need to build it to spec with the '95 upgrades and a transgo shift kit. The TC and tranny are specific to '93, the '94-'95 trannies TC's to tranny spline count are the same, but the '93 spline count is different, so you have to use a '93 TC with a '93 tranny.

so the 95 tranny is better than 93, 94 as far as handeling the hp

ATX handling HP? Theres no such thing.

Remember that for your SHO you need to find another tranny from a SHO....the SHO ATXs are different than the regular Taurus/Sable ATXs....the SHOs are a bit stronger/durable.

As far as blowing the planetary gears....you must buy the Transgo shift kit which includes instructions on how to modify your trans to provide better oil supply to the planetary gears. THe Transgo mods supply 10 times the oil supply as compared to the stock AX4S setup. The problem with these AX4Ss is that the oil supply to the planetaries is not very good.....low oil supply means planetaries get hot and fail. Lots of oil supply means planetaries stay cooler....and last. Along with the Transgo mods get a high perfomance aftermarket tranny cooler.....and use synthetic tranny fluid.
