Man....nothing is easy for me....Here's the situation (a bit long, but I wanted to give you all the details:
I drained the pan (6 quarts came out)
I cleaned out the pan. Replaced the filter.
Replaced the Gasket and put pan back in place.
Then I took off the cooler and attached a hose to each end not knowing what hose fluid would come out of and put the hose ends in the collection bucket.
I then added 8 quarts to the pan and started it up in neutral. the outlet hose was then evident as about 1/2 pint of fluid came out...shut engine off....then I placed the other hose in a quart of fluid and started again..
HERES THE PROBLEM: Guys no fluid is coming out of the drain hose and the suction hose is not taking any in....wait there's more...so I add two more quarts of fluid thinking I lost pump prime or something..So that's 1 gallon more fluid in the pan than I took out. Now I have 4 more quarts, but man, I dont want to add even more if I dont have to at this point, cause im afraid you all are going to say drop that pan again.
Air comes out of the drain hose and as i gently rev the engine (mind u only slightly above idle), and nothing...air yes...a little spitting of fluid, but not much. eventually it just is air only....considering I thought the stuff would come shooting out, I am puzzled. I have now less than 1/2 quart of fluid in the pan, no fluid coming up into the inlet hose and it has been in neutral, and even park for awhile, it slips into drive and reverse as well, but its as if all circulation is really slow.
DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG?
One slight piece of info that seems unrelated, but can only tell me that it is a bad thing, but when i took the filter out, their it left behind that orange gasket o ring. strange I thought, now the new filter wont fit as it has this o ring in place...I thought about whether to pull the new o ring off the filter and stick the filter in the old oring that is stuck in there, or remove the old oring somehow. After some examination I elected to gently pry the old oring out of that hole and then the new filter fit in perfectly. Was scary at first, but I did get the new filter back in. Also, wanting to be a good doobie, I cleaned everything off with brake cleaning solution before I put the filter back on and the pan in place, nothing major, just alittle goo.
HEEEELLLLLLPP!
