As much as I have gloated in the past about treking around in my 94 ATX with an original trans, the last 2 weeks its been acting up. When I first start the car in the morning it shifted smooth and quick, but after some miles the trans warms up and has a slow then weak 1-2 shift. Hunted for gears or slipped during gradual acceleration as well. So, my baby is at trusty AAMCO, as I am a returning customer I get greeted with a smile. I dropped it off this morning and while I was sitting in there signing on the dotted line, a guy walks in the door behind me and he points at me and says hes there to see me. He introduces himself as a SHO owner I talked to months ago and sure enough his red 95 is parked outside. He says "I saw you pull in so i wanted to see what was up.." The brotherhood of SHO owners is just amazing, he even offered me a ride home but I had a ride already. I cant wait to drive my car with a solid trans.

I am having them put in new motor mounts and my 02's are recent. AAMCO charges a flat fee of $1280 for labor, with a new torque convertor, internal parts (guy called me and said pistons , clutches and a chain all have to be replaced) plus tax is $2400. Thats $400 more than what it cost for my 93 SHO but he said theres more internal damage here. they have extended warranties, of 3y/50k or lifetime, but then the price tipped 3 grand which is way too much. Just for reference, Ford's "quality rebuilt" trans for an SHO is $1850, and thats without labor.
