I just bought a 95 3.2 auto. Not sure if theres a post somewhere on here addressign this or not.

My trans sometimes upshifts very early ( 3k) under full throttle and sometimes it will shioft normal. Down shifts hard sometimes and others normal..

My question whats prblematic on these? I would think its computer controlled if so do I need a new tranny module/pcm ??

Any help would be great!

Mine did that once at the drags. Not condusive to good ETs when your tranny's in 3rd already at 40! I never did figure out what the **** was going on, but it seems that either a faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or neutral safety switch can cause this.

are you throwing any codes?

when i first bought my taurus, it'd run fine for a while, until it got up to normal operating temperature, then it'd start shifting erratically, downshifts whenever it wanted to, upshifting... i forgot if that was any different.

anywho, it turned out to be the vehicle speed sensor. they go out on these cars quite often, on the automatics. it's a pita to replace. haha.

Werd on the VSS. Mine was doing that too when I got it. Bought another SLO one time real cheap because of a bad VSS too :angelnot: Transmission range sensor can do similar stuff too...I had the luxury of verifing what was up with mine with the scantool at work
