I posted a topic a couple rows down titled "running codes," but i didnt get many responses so i figured i would post a new one. I recently ran my codes to check why the CEL was appearing. I got back PIP erratic or missing and transmission shift failure between 1-2 gears. I have noticed a slight hesitation and jerking when switching from these 2 gears. Has anyone else experienced this before? My car recently just hit 66K and ive heard of some ATX's having to rebuilt at this point???? Will this problem get any worse???

Thanks
Scott

if your having a gear shifting failure then eventually the tranny probably wont shift at all. a rebuild is definately in order. sorry man. theres a slim chance it could also be related to whatever is causing your erratic pip signal. the pip is your crankshaft sensor btw. make sure your DIS is properly grounded and the bolts are secure in your crossover tube as this can also cause a pip error. good luck.

My car does that jerking between 1st and 2nd sometimes and I thought I was in trouble when it first started to happen as well. That was over 37,500 miles ago and my transmission is still going. I now have 131,000 miles on the original transmission...who knows how much longer it will go.

I hope it is not your transmission failing at only 66k miles, but the 93 auto's were weaker than the 94 and 95's.

I am not Alone!! hehe
My car will **** also on the 1-2 shift, but only on the first one, no matter what kinda throttle pressure I give it through the shift.
And about 50% of the time when I shift in combination with Wide open throttle 1-2 shift it will delay and Kick there also. He he thats about hmm 50k miles ago as I have 135K on the original tranny now but most I drive 70 miles a day on highway.

Edit: wanted to see if I knew how to post pic :)

Yea very annoying isn't it! I should have Ted's LPM back soon and it does help that problem a bit.

I recently had a transmission failure on a '93 ATX (the forward piston cracked). I thought at first my problem lied elsewhere, but when I took it to Mr. Transmission they told and showed me otherwise. They didn't charge me anything to fully check out the transmission. They can do pressure tests among other things that most of us cannot. I would recommend having a trans shop check it out.
