Having trouble with the downshift from 3 to 2. There is 166K on the transmission with no
maintiance actions so far and always proper care. No slipping or gunk in the pan and the
codes are OK.

Can the driver side cover over the pump and solenoids be removed without removing the ATX?
Could the solenoids be sticking?

This is my second attempt to get a mesage into the forum. Am I doing somthing wrong?

2 things Larry, first of all this question would be better answered in the right area. I am no tranny expert by any means, but this section is for electronics and audio like radio and speaker problems. I would suggest taking it to a reputable tranny shop. But first try a flush and switch to synthetic tranny fluid. It helped mine. Good luck.
