Ok, when i gun it getting onto the interstate 1st is just fine and the shift into second is nice and crisp right at about 6800rpms, pulls nice and hard in second all the way to 7000rpms and sits there for a two seconds maybe then shifts into 3rd, BUT the rpms drop signifigantly for a few seconds and then pick back up and off im going again. so. anyone got any ideas.

clutch drum clearance is too much i/e worn clutches or improper clutch assembly and or broken servo springs, or fluid pressure loss in the valve body, chanches of easy fix? slim to none, what year car is it? and does it shift good under half throttle ?

Our 93 ATX has a weird 2-3 similar to what you described. Most notable under 1/2 throttle. Its done that for about 5 years and probably about 100K miles. I really don't remember if it was there when the car was new or not. I was only 14 at the time. My Moms recently rebuilt ATX does the same thing. I was hoping it was the "crappy" 93 ATX shift program. What year is your car?

Well, I guess I didn't help at all. Good luck with it.
