I took my car in for an estimate on the tranny, and they called back and said that two of my engine mounts were broken. They wanted ~$750 to replace them. Is that reasonable? I've found numerous threads about MTX mounts, but nothing about ATX mounts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Considering the mounts new from Ford are going to cost you $250+, the rest is labor charge and quite high. I wouldn't let them charge you over 4 hours for the set.

Mounts are available aftermarket, be careful of the quality however - I had a solid one shred on me at the strip.

If you get stuck I think I have some used stock ones I'd let go cheap.

Correction: $750 was the total cost for 2 motor mounts, installation, fluid flush, filter, estimate, plus beating the bottom of my tranny pan flat again (Must have hit a rock or a big pothole :( - man do I need new suspension). They said about $345 for labor.

I'm probably going to go ahead with this, since I don't have access to a shop right now and my landlord frowns upon tearing cars apart in the apartment complex's driveway. I can get away with tune ups, brakes, etc. but I don't know about an engine mount.
