It is more than likely your flexplate. I had the nuts on mine back off a little bit and it was causing a vibration/rattle that I couldn't pin-point until I had it up on a lift. With Brian aka GoofSHO's help, he re-locktited all the nuts. This was done by removing the starter, and then spinning the trans with a screwdriver.
In the past week, I noticed the car losing power, getting crappy mileage, and the code I would get was for the knock sensor. Turns out it was hearing the rattling, thought it was a ping, and backed off timing significantly. Now that it's all fixed up, the car purrs like a kitten.
