I picked up a used/rebuilt tranny to replace my ailing atx before it falls out onto the highway. I'm trying to get as much input as I can as to how much is a fair price to swap out my old one for the rebuild. So, what do you all think? TIA. :)

Alot (around 2,600 or so).

Way more then going from a 3.0 to a 3.2 in a already MTX car.

I have heard that going from a ATX to MTX in a already 3.2'd car is a much bigger PITA.

Also check this guys download. I'm THINKING of tackling the task on myself, dont know quite yet though.

Wait, what?

I think he's just asking how much to swap in a replacement AX4S. At least that's what I got out of it.

If that is what you ment, i would say if you brought all the parts....probably a few hundred bucks

For a rear wheel drive AOD it costed me about $1200 total bill for a rebuilt tranny. This shop was charging about $400 for install. Now that's just dropping the tranny strait down easy..

For a front wheel drive car, $1800-2200 would be a reasonable guess for a total replacement on a SHO. I'd say your looking at ohh at about $700-1000, but this all depends where you go. The smaller the shop the cheaper usually.

R&R labor alone expect to pay in the $500 to $800 range, plus budget probably an extra $200 for unexpected things like broken manifold studs, ball joints, endlinks, etc.

Yes it is and atx>atx swap. Picked up a rebuilt AX4S out of a '95 from Shotx for a great price. It's been sitting in the garage for nearly a month now. I have a friend of a friend situation where the guy owns a Father/Son shop with his dad here locally and does side work for my friend for pretty cheap normally. Said he'd do it for ~$400. Wanted to make sure I was going to be getting a good deal otherwise it wouldn't be worth the hassle of waiting for him to have a free weekend day to do it. From the sounds of it though it could be worth the wait to save some money. Thanks for all the input guys. :)

Jeff. I sent you a PM on Monday. Did you get it?

Responded. Sorry, I tend to not notice when I get pm's on this forum. I thought I had it set to pop up a notice when I got a new one, guess I'll have to re-check that. :bonk:
