The small thin piece in between the trans and the oil pan, I put new oil pan gasket on and was not able to get it back in. I put it on first and put some bolts in the holes to keep it lined up but it still slipped, and it bent in the process of trying to line it back up with the pan on.

How important is it? just wondering if I need to track down another or if it will be OK.

Thanks

It's also a spacer; it's 25 thousandths of an inch thick. I had some custom ones made up for my buggy friends because the machine shop that made the adapter for us forgot the dustshield. Unfortunately, they do not fit the SHO transaxle bell housing.

The correct way to install that is to put on the four pan NUTS loosely at the four corners.

Then put in the two pan/dust shield/tranny bolts. With the tranny stilll able to be slid back and forth a little from the four loose nuts, you can slide the pan out a hair, slide in the shield, put in the two pan/shield/tranny bolts and snug them up hand wrench tight.

Then you can put in all of the pan BOLTS and torque these to spec first and then finish up with the torque on the two pan bolts.
