Well.....$1,800 and a quick visit to the for sale section will net you a turbo kit ready to be bolted in. All the research in that kit was done for you...Spend away. Great price too.

Oh Yeah!!! I want that so bad, just can't swing it right now. Well, I could but I think my other half might leave me.

If you can't drop that amount of money at any given time, that's a bit of a problem with these cars. $1,800 is CHEAP when factoring in everything needed to make a good running car. Breaking things becomes expensive too.

I don't think that he has the experience yet to build a turbo kit. It takes a good bit of work to research, build, maintain, modify a boosted Taurus. Get familiar with the basic workings of the car/engine platform before you dive into trying to turbo it.

Is the car completely stock now ? How are the brakes & suspension ? my opinion get dirty working on the car getting them up to par (11.6 front brakes, Y pipe , check LCA's, wheel bearings, tie rods struts/springs ). Take the time to research which direction you want to go while you learn about the car and get it ready for extra powaz. You will thank yourself in the end.

yes, i havent done the research part yet for the turbo, but the link that was posted to me before about (what use your turbo will serve, what hp are you looking for, are you daily driver or full drag) ive already sat down and discussed that with my big mechanic.
*He buys about 2 cars a year - takes them from stock and builds them to ultimate dream machines. Then gets bored and sells them. He has done a Kenne Bell supercharged 500hp 2004 Mustang, 3000gt Vr4 600hp AWD, Had plans for the hayabusa smart car..... and others.

Brakes are getting the 3rd gen upgrade this winter. Havent gotten the Y Pipe YET. Tie rods are new. Replaced one bad strut earlier this year. Springs are great. Ask nick dodd. His SHO sags like my grandmothers *******. Mine are in very good condition still. Ive checked the wheel bearings already. Had it on a lift and use a stethoscope to listen inside. Sounded clean and crisp - only a tiny amount of noise and nothing significant.
*Not mentioned that i have done as well:
Subframe Recall Kit performed within the last 2 months after it had a massive failure on me
New subframe bushings
New lower control arms and ball joints
New stabalizer links
Alignment performed to the exact specs. (also checked with SAI as well to make sure measurements were exact. To be sure the knuckles, subframe crossmembers, and other things were not bent.)

Planning on:
Aluminum Subframe Bushings
Y pipe - custom making a true dual w/ H pipe out the rear. Not sure the brand of exhaust mufflers yet, but thats for later
Going to make this ---> http://i61.servimg.com/u/f61/15/91/80/83/11061010.jpg
look like this --- > http://hotpursuit.net/HotPursuit/Driving/Projects/94TaurusSHO/Full/EngineTop.JPG
(yes, i know one is an MTX and one is an ATX. But im going to take the time and reroute the things to make my engine bay look clean and uncluttered as it looks now.
New carpet and headliner will be done this winter thanks to a few of my upholstery friends :) maybe something sweet like this --- > http://i54.tinypic.com/2rxjfcy.jpg

My goal has always been to have a daily street driver that can show off and have some fun - more than someone who jumps into a little sports car and thinks their 4cyl is bad ass. But i do not want to push 400hp. My goal is NOT to break things. Im nearly broke the way it is doing the current upgrades and repairs to my SHO.

So you want to turbo the car and get a Y-pipe and run true duals with an H-pipe?. Big mechanic?

6lbs of boost with a turbo will put you in danger of breaking things if you're trying to show off and have some fun. If you're nearly broke now, I'd suggest NOT boosting your SHO. Are you wanting to boost and still stay on stock suspension and just Gen3 brakes?

My 4-cylinder is pretty bad ass.

hmmmm........

.... that can show off and have some fun -.....My goal is NOT to break things.............. Im nearly broke

You and your "big mechanic" have no business owning and driving a SHO, let alone modifying one to the degree you are talking about.

How about you go buy a civic?

There is No "kit" anywhere that is bolt on and forget, he could buy that and still has tons of work to do. Hes not ready for anything boosted plain and simple.

Stick with bolt ons and learn about the car , save your pennies for when the next diff pin goes.

No offense man, but that kit is almost as close as it comes to bolt in. This isn't a "kit" that was thrown together, it was built through time. There wouldn't need to be a ton of work. It made power, was efficient & it was very reliable. If he's not ready for it that's a different subject.

Anyways, Good luck with your build, or whatever you decide to do. Just take your time, learn and be confident with your choice.

Guys, stop being negative. Didn't you read that he has new tie rods and his car has been aligned? He's totally ready for boost now.
BTW, I'd put the "H" pipe before the "Y" pipe

no hate for civics... you got me all wrong.
im talking more of the highschool kids who drive 4 cylinders and think their car is bad ass....

and a quote from earlier - going boost is not the way i want to go so i wont do it.
so no boost but Y pipe is a thing that every SHO owner needs to do...
why not go a true dual for the pure sound?

There is not a single True Dual exhaust system that sounds even remotely good, they all sound terribly raspy. A nice catted Y-pipe and a nice catback (SHOsource catback is nice, or a Borla if you can find one) will sound excellent.

again.... ive tried to find many youtube videos and such to see the exhaust system sound i want... cant find a thing.

all of the cars ive heard with the H pipe sound pure evil.... although those are v8s. yes i know... v6s and v8s are completely different but with the Y pipe and cats still in the exhaust system, with the right mufflers, i think it could be done

*edit
its not that i cant find a thing - they either have terrible sound quality, to much rasp, or just not the sound im looking for. mustangs around my area sometimes have a hollow sounding evil exhaust, which is what i want - but cant find anything

I'd look for a mustang if you want a car that sounds like a mustang
