Parting mine out that makes 8 . These trannies and engines are roughly 2times what they used to be in price . If you have a nice clean one put a Zex kit on and let it be . You can boost it, eat trannies and tires at an astounding rate but why? Even if you can outrun a Vette at hwy speed who cares? It's a POS Taurus and the Vette owner won't have his on jack stands 6mos. at a time looking for another trannie that won't last. I've had a boosted SHO for years . It's not worth it at all . My .02
My buddy Nick doesnt even get on a computer much and doesnt know how to navigate as complex as we can. So why make it hard for him? make things simple and people will come back time and time again...
...........I know how to use a computer, and the search button. :type: :wave:I can see that yours is very nice and garaged most of the time .
I drive the **** out of everything I have .
They're just as cool and way more reliable stock and clean . I would be willing to bet you could pull the sc and people would still like yours . Mines a pile of nothing but go, and I love it .
If I could do it over I'd of kept it stock and got another car to go "fast".
Again just an aholes opinion.
I'm very confused as to why a thread was started about making a 'community build' and your main focus is the motor, especially when referring to better 1/4 mile times? smh...
If you want to get down the track fast you should spend minimal time thinking about the motor...We already know what works best. Large turbo and supporting mods to fuel system, exhaust, clutch, etc...
Soooo, your focus needs to be on traction and getting the best launch...These motors can produce far more than what the platform likes to handle.
I honesty wish I woudl have started with a different platform, for what I spent I'd have a 11 second car.
But it is what it is, I love my sho but it is what it is, a highway killer. Not a redlight to redlight racer and I have come to understand this.
...And keeping it once you're already moving. The higher power cars have a hard time keeping traction even after moving.
Since I couldn't bring myself to part with my SHO, I just bought a car that will do 11's for LESS than I have put into my SHO, including the purchase price.
...And keeping it once you're already moving.
Your sti is in the 11's? What year is it and what all is done to it?

It just comes down to you want some magic easy button of getting what you want and dont want to educate yourself and learn anything in the process. Your not the first person to come here and start a thread just like this one.
Heres a good start on turbo and general forced induction

You could go get a dry zex kit ,Walbro 155lph fuel pump ,Autolite 3923's copper plugs and see how you do with the extra power. Its also much cheaper then turbo/super-charging the car.
perfect. what ive gotten is its not worth it to rebuild the motor even if ive beaten the **** out of it, gone through a trans and 2 clutches (1 failed to differential failure)
so basically its going the spray route. thanks
It is worth it to rebuild the motor if it is worth it to you. It all comes down to money vs. want/need.
If you have gone through 2 clutches in a relatively fast period of time you may need to alter your driving habits.
I recommend that you ditch the spray and go the turbo route. It takes work, but it is well worth it. It can be very reliable too.
Why are all the whack jobs from Wisconsin?
Well thats a unfair assumption to make.
