Calling all upgraded turbo pioneers, was the upgrade worth the $2500 price tag?

Also, I saw a dyno chart somewhere that compared the before and after but can't seem to locate it now. Does anyone have one they can show me?

I don't see any turbo upgrades on their site? Only thing I see is the intercooler upgrade.

I'm fairly certain they offer a turbo upgrade.

They monitor this forum, I'm sure they'll respond.

GearHead does have a turbo upgrade. Contact Matt at Gearhead for the specifics.

Yep (Gearhead) has turbo upgrades. I designed them to be max turbo for stock block applications without losing much spoolup/response compared to stock. I run them in my car. The below graphs are stock turbos at the bottom with tune, intercooler and downpipes. Then turbos on pump gas in the middle then turbos and e30 at the top.Ff61f8af7c09f5d5d133be07af82cd5b

ATPs lately have had issues... only guy I know to have them long term is BPD1151....

I run Gearhead Gen3 turbos.. Gearhead spent quite a bit of time matching compressors to the 3.5 ecoboost... very happy with my set. Put down quite a bit of power on a base tune...

I would vote that going from 400 whp to 460ish whp would be worth it...

GearHead needs to update the website, when they are ready.
I would honestly say they have the best shifting tuning out of all of the Ecoboost tuners.
Email them with any questions, they probably have the answers.

GearHead needs to update the website. Noone really knows what they sell. (Well maybe 10 people do) turbos? Where? Thermostats? Huh? E30 tune? Maybe?
They have awesome tunes, I do know that not because of the website but because I found them on a random forum and tried them. I would honestly say they have the best shifting tuning out of all of the Ecoboost tuners.
Maybe by design at the moment my friend...

I understand and I respect your decision. I highly recommend your tunes to everyone I meet with an ecoboost or power stroke.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Now that I have the HPFP, IC, DP etc I'm getting itchy for these turbos but concerned about;

1. Safety over the long term to the drivetrain components with all this extra power
2. Reliability, driveability since this is a daily driver

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I’m running FBO with GH turbos. I would say that in switching to bigger turbos actually helps with reliability...

If you are running E30 with the mods you have, chances are you are maxing out the current stock turbos.. running them against the wall...

With the bigger turbos they have to work much less to produce more power.. so they run cooler and more in their efficiency band. Longer life IMHO...

I had a lot of talks with Matt about upgrading the turbos just for this reason..

My SHO is pushing 500/500 to the wheels.. several track passes, lots of datalogs, and still running fine.

GH turbos spool as fast as stockers so there is no negative impact to daily driving.

Thank you for the insights.

I'm on gas only so likely not going to benefit to the same degree that you have but would still like to do it.

Is 500/500 a engineered safe long term limit for the drivetrain? I keep seeing limitations around that number on forums but I'm not sure if it's a hard number or urban myth.

...Matt is in the process of getting them back in stock. How are the actual ATP turbos? I understand that Matt's are an upgrade.
