I have been battling with some dark forces from the center of the earth or something. I have erased all codes and replaced neccesary parts required to do so. I had another cam sensor go bad and had several codes besides that this past sunday. Today I replaced the egr pressure feedback solinoid, IAC and another cam sensor. Drove it a few miles warmed it up checked codes none i thought. On the way home it ran so good i opened it up to see what it would do. When the secondarys kicked in and i got up to a certain speed and around 4500 rpms the tac whent dead and engine started running rough barely made it home. Anyway now the tac sometimes works, its hard to start and I have the floowing codes in this order. 121 tps its new, 221 dis module, hasntr been replaced and 214 cam sensor new. Myt question is what is causing the cam sensor to go bad or is it another problem making it look bad and the tps is new so i shuldnt have that code. By the way all 60k has been done top and bottom This dam thing wont run good for more than a week at a time it seems and then I have toi work on it. I am about to junk it. 94 sho with 111,000 on it and its an atx. Could it be a bad ecu throwing the codes?

yes it was bucking and jerking like it has done before and no tac at the same time and definately fellt like it was running on less than 6 cylinders and no power had to practically idle the rest of the mile home from where it happened. No oil in cam sensor mount or on cam sensor. First new cam sensor thats possibly bad is a NAPA economy one CSS405SB and the second possible bad one is a WELLS F134. Today I will check the ground strap, change the dis module, and put on another new cam sensor except this time its a NAPA Echlin CSS405.

Cam sensor is a simple sensor. Can't imagine you could get 2 bad ones. I doubt even one. Sounds like it is losing the cam signal though but from where? The DIS can be checked for function at a parts store like Advance auto or AZ. Be sure the DIS is grounded well to the intake. Do the basics like rechecking connections and mounting bolts/screws. There is another recent thread on this with the schematics of the DIS/CID/CPS path.

Check again for good grounding all the way around, not just the ground strap. Unplug your DIS and remove the crossover tube and clean/file the contacts between the parts. I chased 221 and 214 a long time and it was as simple as bad connections.

Update 2-21 Bad Cam Sensor No Start No Tac Non Running

I put on another new cam sensor, still no start, run or tac. I checked all my grounds, cleaned them and ran one from the firewall to the dis. I also cleaned and checked all the connections under the hood. I changed coil packs, dis to no avail. I used a test light and ohm meter and checked all circuits like was suggested in another thread. Well before I went in for dinner I decided to put on a factory used cam sensor off one of my parts cars. It starts runs and the tac works when running or starting as where it didnt before. Revs up dont miss and idles smooth around 1,000 rpm's. Tomorrow i will let it warm up and go out and drive it and then run codes. Is it my dumb luck to have one factory sensor go bad and 3 new ones that are junk out of the box or with very little running time in about a weeks time? Has anyone else had bad cam sensors cause a no start@ run situation?

yes, bad CID means the wrong coils fire so it won't start. Cycle the key a few times and bang its back. Drive down the street 1 min to 1 week and bang its running like the bull at the rusty nail. **** if you got 3 bad cam sensors I want you to pick the powerball numbers for me. I'll just invert them:)
Just thinking did you clear codes after each CID change?

Yes the first 2 cam sensors I cleared codes, this 3rd one I didnt. Ran out of daylight and had to go in and eat dinner and get ready for work. I work graveyard and was in a rush cause i want to drive it cause it was getting such good gas mileage after the new o2 sensors last week that it puts my truck to shame in that department. I had driven 200 miles and used just over a 1/2 tank as before it would only get about 200 miles per tankfull. Its very frustrating on these sho's but i wont axcept defeat. I will keep trcking on till its fixed. I just wish it was like some other people that have them where they can drive them for weeks or months at a time without working on them for what seems like a daily basis!!!!

Update!!!!!!!! Problem Fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only had one bad cam sensor. The problem with the no start no tac problem has been solved. It was something so small and minor it got overlooked. Everything got a going over and got cleaned and nothing was working yet. I noticed my cam sensor pig tail from the wiring harness had the rubber grommet seal still attached to it from one of the cam sensors I had changed awhile back, while the new sensors have them down in the socket. Well trying to plug it in with 2 grommets it wasnt making good contact or had intermittent contact. I took the grommet off the pig tail so it seats down farther like its supposed to @ put one of the new suspect sensors back on and car starts @ runs fine, let it warm up for a good 1/2 hour and then drove the heck out of it a few miles down the road and back with varrying speed. When I got back form the drive I ran codes and have none. Thanks to all of you for your help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
