With all the parts included in the 60K service, what would be the approx. cost (what$ - what$) if most of the labor was done by my dad and me and not by any shop.

I'd like an estimate because when my car was bought there were no mention of the service done. I think parts of it have been done but not everything. It has almost 95K on it now and I want to modify it but I know maintenance comes before performance.

Its hard to tell that it depends on whats already been replaced, you can be anywhere from $500 to $1000, its tough to tell, you need to be more specific on what you're doing 60k wide, also to you have the right valve adjustment tools? You will prolly have to buy the 60k tool kit as well

yeah, I will need to find the 60K tool kit.

As for what would be done in the 60K, pretty much every part that says it should be replaced at 60K or 100K.

How much would a comprable shop charge for the valve lash and adjustment? I don't know if my dad would really like to do that himself.

Using this list of parts and prices and recommended replacement intervals, you can get a good estimate of the cost of the parts involved. For an ATX SHO that has gone more than 60,000 miles since it was last serviced, the parts below are probably in order. If it has been replaced already then you can take it off the list. The total parts cost is $486.78 (+ tax, shipping & handling). I did not include the cost of the valve gapping items. When you step back and take a good look at it, that is not that much engine maintenance expense for 60,000+ miles of enthusiastic motoring.

Spark plugs
Plug wires
Valve cover and plug well seals
Intake manifold gaskets (2)
Timing belt
Accessory belt
Water pump (reman)
Water pump gasket set
Crankshaft position sensor
Front main oil seal
Oxygen sensors (2)

Now I need to get my dad to help me get all the parts. That's gonna be hard.

Scott, you live in the same city I do but I've never seen your SHO. Where in Richardson do you live?

I live near Centennial and Audelia east of Central Expressway. I have to say I haven't noticed any indigo blue '95s either.

Maybe you should pay Scott to teach you how to do the entire 60k, valve lash and all!

He is, after all, an unofficial master SHO tech.

Good luck.

If my dad knew how good he is with SHO's he might do something like that. shrug

I would love to have someone who really knows what they are doing work on my SHO.
