Anyone replace the Keyless Entry Keypad?

About the only weathered item on this Gen 2 I am fixing up is the keyless entry keypad. I have the door card off and have peeled back the white weather seal but can't quite see the keypad from the inside. Feels
like maybe it has some kind of spring clip on it.

Any advice on how to remove this would be appreciated, don't want to scratch the outside of the door its mint.

Thanks. The clip was pretty hard to get out, tried long needle nose. What finally worked was a medium screwdriver, pry between the clip and the plastic "box" that houses the 1-2 button. Got it moving, then turn the screwdriver sideways to push out a finger width. Finally, a larger screwdriver turned sideways got it almost half way out where I could pull it by hand.

There are two wiring loom loops right near / on the door reinforcement beam, got the lower one out, the upper is pried off the support beam but can't separate the "push pin" built into some other wire loom from the loop on the keypad cable. The keypad cable goes around the vertical guide for the window, and appears that the female plug eventually comes out the opening in the car.

Could almost believe they started with the keypad and built the rest of the SHO around it.

Glad you were able to get it out. I'll use your notes when I replace my key pad when I swap out my door handles for body colored ones on my 92

Yup, spring clip as you found holds it to the door. I got another, painted the bezel body color, and installed in. If I remember right there are a couple roll pins that hold the bezel to the rest of the assembly.

Just an update on this, after unpinning the female connector from the harness in order to get it around the rearward side of the window guide I found out that you can just peel the rubber in the bottom of the guide a little forward and slip it behind (e.g. without removing the connector).
Be sure to replace this rubber lining carefully otherwise the window could get stuck etc.
