Anyone know how to remove the shift ****/boot?

Going to make a custom shift boot but need to figure out how to get the shift **** off. Havent really tried yet for fear of breaking something. I'm used to turning it real hard until the threads loosen up but something is telling me this is different. Thanks

Looking at the procedure, it appears there's quite a bit more effort required for the Taurus with paddle shifters. If you send me a Private Message with the request and an e-mail address for you, I'll send you a PDF of the procedure from the Factory Service Manual.
