Anyone ever use a smaller alternator pulley?

Just curious if anyone on here has replaced there alternator pulley with a smaller pulley. I am having a little trouble with my charging system and even though this is just a band aid to my problem I believe it will help my situation.
I am going to stop by a place tomorrow that rebuilds alternators and see what they have.

Raising the idle would probably be a better "band aid", that way you won't be over-spinning the alternator in the upper RPM range. I don't know of an easy way to do that, though... messing with the throttle stop screw is a no-no. Maybe create a slight vac leak?

TwEECer, LPM and the like are the right/best ways to raise the idle...

Yeah, but I don't think he has a twEECer or chip. At least I don't remember him ever mentioning either.

I have a chip that SHO Source programmed just not sure if I want to wait a few days to send it out again and wait to get it back.

I'm not sure if the battery I put in had higher amps or not but I put the original battery in my other SHO and it pretty much did the same thing, the volts would drop to around 10-11 volts at idle. The original battery is only about year old and it was an Interstate Mega Tron II. They are going to warranty the battery but of course I got to hear how it's not the battery and I must be doing something wrong.

Anyways against everyone's advice I replaced the original pulley with a smaller one and the voltage is around high 12s with evrything on.

I have the FPS UDP set. I ended up taking off the alternator pulley, because around town, it wouldn't give me proper voltage, and I would blow alternators. I put on the stock pulley, and with my idle raised to about 1k rpm, I'm getting about 13.5v with all accessories on at idle. Send the chip out.

SHO Source said sometimes it's a little tricky getting the idle right where you want it. I asked for it to be around 950 and right now it's around 700-800 RPM. They told me to send it back and they will bump it up a little.

Sweet! Now we'll get to see an alternator catch on fire!

I really doubt that will happen, I have a SHO Source under drive crank pulley so all accessories are already spinning slower so I figure with a smaller alternator pulley it should be close to stock.
