Hello,

I have a 2015 FPIS and I was wondering if anyone has installed a sho steering wheel with the paddle shifters into a police interceptor? I see that the sst shifting can be turned on via Forscan and I am wondering if the FPIS has the harness already.

Thanks for your input.

Also looking into this too. I will revive this forum to shed more light on the problem.

There is basically no answers online from anyone. Im 99% positive no one has actually taken a column shift 3.5TT PI and made it shift manually like god intended.

From what I have gathered through manuals and from some professionals, if you have a column shifter… the PCM doesn’t have coding to shift the transmission. Im looking into possibly swapping my PCM for one out of an SHO (If your car is a 3.5TT). Or option 2, attempt to force write it through HPtuners.
Just bought another daily so I'm going to try this soon. Only other option I can think is take it to someone who can write PCMs.

For the wheel/shifters. Simple bolt up. Bought a wheel for my 14’ from a 14’ SHO on ebay. $150. Great shape. 15 minute swap. All buttons work exactly the same. (minus where it has paddle shifters on the back)

You should already have wires on the column going through the clockspring.
According to factory wiring manual and my own two eyes…The other thing you’ll notice is no wires to the PCM itself after the column.

I have reached out to a couple online tuning companies to see what input they may have about the PCM programming and will update this forum.

I know theres guys out there… future and present…who will want to do this as these cars become more available coming out of service.

If anyone has any more information on this topic please let me know.

Hello all,

Its been a busy year but I'm getting back to working on my car. I believe that I've found the solution for paddle shifting a cop car. Unfortunately I broke the pin for the Low gear wire running to the pcm. Waiting for that to come in.

Low or L for the PIS is essentially going to become the M when we change the as built data. Pin 25 on PCM (C175B) receives the “L” signal. In SHO vehicles, the M signal goes into the same PCM strategy input line (just with a different label). The button on your column shift will need to be pressed to shift gears. Simply tapping the paddle will not engage a temporary manual mode. No conversion to floor shift is required. No need to swap PCMs. Its actually pretty simple.

SHO Wheel with paddles -> clockspring (needs to be a SHO or Limited part number that end with A, included below) -> SCCM (configured in forscan with as built data from a SHO) -> PCM and BCM via Hs-can (also configured with as built data from a SHO)

Slow day at work today so im working on finding the correct as built data using a verified SHO off co-part. this is the only roadblock I see at the moment. Hardware throughout the sho and pis are identical minus as built data. (Ive cross checked all the part numbers and spoke with ford directly) Ford does not waste money on unique PCMS. Ford simply turns off features with software flags, not different hardware.

Physically, logically, and strategically the same hardware. (not knowing this originally made me believe hptuners needed to get involved)

Right now ---> Enable paddle detection in the SCCM (724-01-01 → last byte 7C) this is successful so far. but without a pin for the L I'm stuck here atm.

Clock spring P/N - DG1Z-14A664-A (this has pins for paddles)

I will update again this weekend when I have the right recipe.

Anyone able to send me their factory SHO tune hpt file? preferably around a 14’ model year. email [email protected]

update is essentially bypassed the SCCM. Wire directly to pin 88/89 on the PCM. Constant 12 volt. Using a momentary switch to ground and complete circuit. Tried to force the car in 4x4L trans schedule (Low button on column shift) Load Switch 2 to accept shifts by adjusting OSS in the tables. Still no dice. Think its still missing logic and theres unfortunately no magic button in HP tuners to turn on the SST. Its buried. Anyone that can help me out with shipping over a stock tune I would greatly appreciate it.

are you using a HP tuner? I might have to look if I have my OEM file.
