what would be causing this strong odor after I park. It smells kinda like gas... maybe burnt gas??? I really do not know how else to describe it. It is very strong. I think I can even smell it if I come to a stop while driving. Sorry for the poor info. I have not noticed any decreased gas mileage or performance.

Could it be a burning oil smell? I cant say as I know what burnt gas smells like.

It does leak some oil, but this smell is more like gas. Maybe its a combo. I know I need to give a better description. I'll pay closer attention...

If youre not quite sure what the burning oil smell is like just drop a drop or 2 on your exhaust manifold. Gas burns a lot different than oil and it wont really give much smell associated with it burning.

The failure of the charcoal purge canister solenoid can create the gas fume problem.

Are there any other problems associated with that kind of solenoid failure? Does it need to be addressed? What causes it?

Usually only the gas fume problem. The failure of the solenoid is because it wears out.

You might want to take a look on the drain port at the bottom of the lower timing belt cover and the top of the front bank catalytic converter. You can have both oil (black) and coolant (green or orange) drips from the drain port hitting the hot cat. Do you have anything cooking there?
