I know the endlinks and energy suspemsion bushings can be had new, but where could I find the upgraded endlinks?

Some tell me the Gen I SHO 26mm RSB can no longer be had new, I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any online sources of where it can be had?

26mm Rear Sway Bars are long obsolete. We offer a 29mm Rear Sway Bar for your SHO complete with Rear End Links, and Polyurethane Bushings for $279.

tom,
is the 29mm setup better than the 26mm? mine came with 26mm on the back and seems to handle great with the minimal upgrades i have done to the suspension.

i guess the true question would be is 29mm too strong for a daily driver?

Not at all. The 29mm is also fully adjustable by simply relocating the rear end links on the sway bar. There are 3 positions you can mount the rear end links into. You can actually "tune" your sway bar now to fit your taste.

Definately a worthwhile mod for those who cannot seem to find a 26mm bar and still soft enough for the daily driver.

Would I be able to "tune" it down enough so I wouldnt get crazy oversteer with my stock front 22mm sway bar and the rear 29mm RSB?

Oh wow just on FPN's online catalog it shows the 1990 RSB for $168 doesnt say anything about being out of stock or discontinued I might have to email Torrie to verify it and endlinks for $17/each.

Hey edien just look at a bone yard and get one, and sand it down and paint it man. Those bars will last for ever man! even thoough i have my 24mm, and 26mm at my house waiting to be put on. That 29mm sounds potent. Is that a direcet stock fit. Nothing majior u have to change to get that bar in there?

Thanks

Tom,
What would you consider that idea sway bar combo for a GEN I with some track use?
Thanks,
Eric
On my S/C '89, I drove with the 26mm Rear/20.5mm Front combo for years and loved it. I then moved to the 29mm Rear/24mm Front and felt more "in control" of my SHO rather then the car being in control of me. I'm sure the suspension gurus can explain this a little better than I could.

There's also a great article on sway bars here:

http://www.panix.com/~awinbow/sho/suspension.html

It really depends on your preference/style of driving.

Direct bolt-on. No cutting or welding involved. The car comes complete with end links and sway bar bushings.

My opinion? Go for the 29mm bar, you'll be wishing you did after you installed the 26mm.

Edien, why would you want to buy a new one? They're readily available used...

I have a weird thing about used parts or remanufactured if I have to I will buy it used but if it can be had new i'd rather have it new. Like the timing belt tensioner, Al Fitz was selling me the whole assembly for $55 but I found it new for $96, now all I need is to get the stud and spring made so I can have those new as well.

Tom, my only question is, will it even be "safe" to drive with your rear 29mm RSB and the stock front 20.6mm or would the 24mm/29mm be more stable compared to the 20.6mm/29mm?

Edit: After reading on that suspension page Tom posted, it states the '92-'93 MTX's had a 24mm FSB, is there any easy way for me to check what size my front one is w/o a caliper tool?

Of course it would be safe, even better handling than stock. Handling characteristics would be greatly improved by moving up to the 24mm front sway bar.

To find the size of your sway bar, wrap a piece of string around it and divide by two. Measure closest to the sway bar bushings if possible.

I thought diameter was equal to circumference divided by PI (3.14) So a 26mmm bar should be 82 mm circumference,,or just under 3.25" A 24mm bar being 75.4mm,,3".

Put one of them on the back of a GEN3 with out upgrading the front to a 26mm and you will be going round and round. Can you say throttle lift oversteer.

I put one on a gen3 SLO (friend's car) and thought it was pretty balanced. Didn't seem too tail happy to me.

My '93 winter beater with yokohoma snow tires on 15' wheels has a 26mm rear bar and no front bar :D

The bigger/stiffer the bar, the more it's going to want to pick up the inside wheel under hard cornering (front or rear). On my track 89 I'm trying to go with smaller bars and more roll stiffness through stiffer springs. Big sway bars are good for street cars though.

So with a stock FSB should I worry about have a "huge" 29mm RSB? Or should I play it safe with 26mm? I usually turn hard and drive a good amount on the highway would the stock/29mm setup be too much overtsteer for quick lane changes?
