I am wondering if putting in the springs and struts from an 89 would have any benefit in my 93. I am looking to lower it, and get some better handling. The struts from the 89 are only a year old, springs are not sagging, car only has 100K, well cared for. The 93 has good pieces, but curious about what is better

Was told that 89-92 had lower seating spring seats, effectively lowering it a bit. did not really believe it, but would be nice if it was true.
The sway bars in the 93 are supposably 23/23,(ATX) I plan to put in the 24/26 from the 89. Does anyone have any suggestions, or am I on the right track?

well about the springs, i have heard there is no difference in the sho stuff, but..... ford kinda put on slo stuff on some shos. the only way to be sure is check the part numbers. and about the sway bar question, the 26 rear is good, but the 24 front? it will make your front end stiffer and give you more understeer. but only at a higher percentage of cornering ability. if you dont autocross or take it to track days go with your intended upgrade. if you do plan on autocrossing or go to road courses, look at the rest of your car, suspension wise and weight distribution wise.

I just gave thius reply to another topic, but anyway.....The parts fit the same between Gen 1 and Gen 2. Gen 1 strut housings are longer in the rear, but the added lenngth is below the mounting point, so there is no ride height difference. It only matters if you want to buy Koni inserts.

Neither are "better" than the other, but the ATX cars, as well as the later Gen 2s, came with weaker springs in many cases. Any of the rear srings will begin to sag over time, though.

IMHO, the 24/26 combo from the Gen 1 cars is nice. I have put 24/26 bars on my '95 (it had the 20.6 on the F&R), along with Koni/Eibachs, and the solid AL subframe bushings. Some folks feel the 24 bar is a bit stiff and go with the 20 or 22, but for my driving style it works very well. I like the way the combo handles on the track (Summit Point at the Convention).
